Mark Armijo Academy Internships

Graduates from MAA are prepared for life after high school. Through participating in different community events, students acquire valuable skills. 

  • The innovation program at Mark Armijo can provide students with a unique opportunity that allows students to experience their community in different ways.  

    • Students begin to work with their community 

    • Students begin to understand the needs of their community and how to use their voice for change 

    • Students start to cultivate compassion for their community, finding creative methods to assist their community’s needs and enriching their educational journey

    • At MAA, we aim to enhance students’ self-awareness and interests to adequately prepare them for the next phase of their lives after graduation.

Group Internships offered through Future Focused Education 

  • Students are offered a class in which they will interview with Future focus education for the Spring of 2025. 

  • Job description will be offered and paid for 10 weeks of work.

  • Class is expected to be held at various locations and students provided hands on experience with IT

  • Students are exploring the world of IT thought partnerships of FFE and Explora. 

  • There is the opportunity for students to earn certifications in IT. 

Internships with Community Partners 

  • Students are placed in an organization closely related to an area of interest.

  • Students hours and pay are dependent based on each student schedule. 

  • Students are given a job description for their role at their community partner site

  • Community partners will be provided with evaluations for student performance based on CTE standards. 

  • Student and Community partner will fill out feedback forms at the completion of the program. 

Onsite internship opportunities.  

  • Canteen / Lunch – Students earn a Food Handler certification and work in the Kitchen to prepare meals for lunch.

Youth Conservation Corps

  • Students can work up to 300 hours in total 

  • Work at various sites even participated in a week long overnight trip at Cottonwood Gulch.  

  • Students are able to receive training related to safety, conservation and skills that they can use in their everyday life.  Below are a few skills students have gained. 

  1. First Aid Training 
  2. Bees Pollinator Education 
  3. Trail Education 
  4. Water Safety and Education
Near Peer

NP Program Overview

The NP program offers students the chance to be trained in providing support to younger peers in the areas of reading, writing, and math. Students from Mark Armijo receive comprehensive training in teaching methodologies, familiarize themselves with the curriculum, and learn various behavioral strategies to effectively assist elementary and middle school students. Students hours and pay are dependent based on each student schedule. 

Program Requirements:

  • All participants must complete a background check.

  • Candidates for the NP program should maintain excellent attendance.

  • Candidates must achieve passing grades.

  • Candidates are expected to adhere to MAA and NP regulations.

  • Candidates should possess a strong enthusiasm for working with youth.
