Melissa Armijo

Melissa was born and raised in Albuquerque and is a lifelong resident of the South Valley. She has been a leader in the community since the late 1990’s below are the organizations she has been and is currently involved with:

Past:

  • South Valley Soccer Club, Albuquerque, NM, Served as Treasurer, Secretary/Registrar and Coach/Manager New Mexico LULAC, Served as Deputy Director
  • Pauline Armijo Scholarship Fund, Served as Scholarship Chair
  • Las Mujeres, Inc., Served as President, Vice President, and Secretary
  • UNM Staff Council, Served as Grade 10 Staff Councilor
  • CNM Governing Board, Served as a Capital Outlay Committee member and Chair of the Audit Committee

Current:

  • Armijo Family Scholarship Fund, Serving as Vice President
  • TCAC Board – Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority, Customer Service Advisory Board, Serving as Board Member
  • Nuestros Valores Charter High School, Serving as Board Member
  • UNM Staff Council Student Success Committee, Serving as Co-Chair
  • Hubbell House Alliance, Served as Secretary, Treasurer and currently serving as Board Chair

Melissa’s late husband was a co-founder and the Governing Board President of Nuestros Valores Charter High School, they have 2 children, Aja and Christian. Christian is a senior in the College of Fine Arts at the University of New Mexico and Aja completed her Master’s degree at UNM’s department of Speech & Hearing Sciences in May 2017.
