Monica Aguilar, President
Monica received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of New Mexico in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics and received her Master of Arts degree from New Mexico Highlands University in Educational Leadership. Monica has 26 years of experience working in an educational setting as a Teacher, Principal, Executive Director, and Board Member. Monica strongly believes access to resources and opportunities is essential in helping improve the lives of children and families. She is passionate about the community she calls home and strives to ensure all students succeed. Monica is dedicated to her community, education, and family.
Alfred Martinez, Treasurer
schools to train school business officials. He holds a NM Level II professional school business official’s license and chief procurement officer certification, is a member of NMASBO, and the National ASBO. In fiscal year 2015 he was awarded the Business Official of the Year award, and the Administrator of the Year award. He has sat on audit, and finance committees for various charter schools. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. He served in the Navy and USAF from 1979 to 2001 earning an honorable discharge. While serving in the Air Force he earned his senior noncommissioned officer academy award.
Robert Chavez, Board Member
Mr. Robert Chavez is currently the CEO for Youth Development, Inc. (YDI). As CEO, Mr. Chavez provides the leadership and vision for an organization that partners with families to improve their lives. YDI employs over 500 employees, provides youth, adult, and family support services in ten New Mexico counties — in the areas of behavioral health, early childhood education and education and employment services and has an annual budget of over 40 million dollars. Mr. Chavez is the former COO of the New Mexico State Board of Nursing, and former interim co-division director for the New Mexico Human Services Department’s Behavioral Health Services Division, as well as former Deputy Director for the New Mexico Human Services Department’s – Income Support Division. Mr. Chavez was also appointed and serves on the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Advisory Council, the New Mexico Counseling and Therapy Practice Board and is a board member for The Workforce Connection of Central New Mexico (WCCNM). Mr. Chavez holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and has taken extension courses at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and is a University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Head Start Fellow – Class of 2022.
